Kingston Churches Action on Homelessness was set up in June 1993 to provide services for single homeless people and those at housing risk in Kingston and the surrounding area. It has one of the best track records for homelessness prevention cases in the borough. It aims to relieve the distress of homeless people by finding shelter on the 'first rung' of the accommodation ladder. KCAH offers Housing and Benefits Advice and a Hostel Placement Servicefor those facing homelessness. It also links homeless and vulnerable people with other agencies or finds them temporary accommodation in their own rented housing, the ‘Access Project'. KCAH supports their tenants, helping them to maintain their tenancies, to avoid a return to homelessness.
